Robe MegaPointe: hybrid moving-head effects
The Robe MegaPointe combines discharge-source beam and spot functions with a broad effects system. Its official specification names an Osram Sirius HRI 470 W RO lamp, a 1.8–21° beam-mode zoom and a 3–42° spot-mode zoom. These ranges belong to MegaPointe, rather than to the earlier Pointe, and should be used when comparing the models.
CMY color mixing, rotating and static gobos and an animation wheel provide several layers of visual control. The operator can change color, projected texture and beam width as separate elements of a look. That separation is useful when a design needs a fixture to move between different roles during the same production.
Beam shaping and programming choices
Robe also describes multilevel-prism beam and flower effects and a framing-shutter emulation system.
