Martin Audio VIA 5002
Martin Audio VIA 5002 is a two-channel Class D power amplifier intended for installation and portable sound applications. The official VIA5002 specification gives 2,500 W per channel into 4 ohms and 1,600 W per channel into 8 ohms. Its dual-channel layout provides separate amplification paths in a 2U rack format.
The amplifier uses a switch-mode power supply, variable-speed cooling and front-to-back airflow. Signal and clip/limiter indication support normal system operation. Martin Audio also documents 70 V and 100 V distributed-line operation for the VIA5002. These capabilities identify the model; loudspeaker loading, processing and system configuration must be established for each installation.

VIA5002: matching the load and application
The VIA5002’s two-channel format can be assessed against the loudspeaker circuits to be driven. Its 4 Ω and 8 Ω output ratings describe different load conditions, so they need to stay attached to the figures in any comparison. A larger number without its impedance does not provide a useful like-for-like amplifier comparison.
The documented distributed-line support is a separate application consideration from conventional low-impedance loudspeaker use. The required system topology should be established before choosing output configuration and wiring. A model feature does not determine which arrangement is appropriate for a particular installation.
The 2U physical format is useful when planning rack space, but the equipment arrangement also needs to account for connections and the manufacturer’s operating requirements.
