Meyer Sound UPM-2P: compact powered narrow coverage

The Meyer Sound UPM-2P is the narrower-coverage member of the UPM powered loudspeaker pair. The joint manufacturer manual specifies a symmetrical 45° pattern, contrasting with the 100° pattern of the UPM-1P. That difference is central when selecting the model for a particular listening area.

The UPM-2P uses two 5-inch low-mid drivers and a 1-inch metal-dome tweeter, with internal amplification and processing. It is the AC-powered -2P model named here, rather than an externally powered XP version. Similar family names should not be used to infer an identical power arrangement.

Focused reinforcement in a small cabinet

The manufacturer describes fill and compact PA uses for the UPM pair. Narrower coverage can be relevant when the design calls for a more defined listening area; it should be evaluated against the intended placement and audience geometry. A narrower pattern is not automatically a better choice, because the required coverage is what determines the fit.

Use the joint operating instructions for -2P-specific information. The current UPM marketing page emphasizes other family members, so it should not be the sole basis for this model’s specification. Confirm the physical unit’s power configuration and the project requirements from the correct documentation before installation planning. No optional brackets, remote-monitoring module, subwoofer or transport accessories are named in the supplied inventory. The listed quantity is available stock and the price applies to each unit.

Why the narrower UPM version matters

The UPM-2P’s narrower pattern makes coverage the central purchasing distinction. A smaller listening area or a particular fill position can call for a different directional approach from broad near-field coverage. Compare the required area with the actual geometry before deciding between UPM-1P and UPM-2P.

Symmetrical coverage describes the relationship between the pattern’s two axes; it does not establish the result in a particular room. Reflections, placement and the relationship to other loudspeakers remain parts of the system design. For an existing installation, identify which UPM version is already in use before treating an additional unit as a like-for-like match.
