Meyer Sound UPM-1P: compact powered wide coverage
The Meyer Sound UPM-1P is a compact self-powered point-source loudspeaker with a wide symmetrical coverage pattern. Meyer Sound specifies 100° coverage, two 5-inch low-mid drivers and a 1-inch metal-dome high-frequency driver. Internal two-channel amplification and active processing are part of the model’s design.
The wide pattern is the defining difference from the narrower UPM-2P. Choosing between the two is therefore a coverage decision, rather than simply selecting two names from the same family. The -1P model also needs to remain distinct from UPM-1XP, which uses Meyer Sound’s externally supplied IntelligentDC approach.
Small-format reinforcement and fill duties
The manufacturer describes applications including compact PA, fill and delay roles. A small cabinet can be useful where the visual presence of a loudspeaker matters, but the required listening area still determines whether its pattern is appropriate. For a theater or installed system, compare the intended audience area with the model’s directional characteristics instead of treating compact size as the only selection criterion.
The official UPM page and joint UPM-1P/UPM-2P manual explain the family and its differences. Consult the model-specific information when planning placement, power and signal connections. Optional mounting and monitoring products described in those documents are not established as included in this sale. The seller supplies the excellent condition statement, available quantity and price per unit; no individual acoustic measurement or maintenance history is claimed.
Wide coverage as a placement decision
The UPM-1P’s symmetrical wide pattern is relevant when the audience area extends across both axes of the loudspeaker’s coverage. A fill position close to listeners may ask for a different pattern from a position covering a narrow strip of seats. The compact enclosure helps with physical placement, but the audience geometry still determines whether the wide version is the appropriate choice.
For spoken reinforcement and local fill work, consider where the loudspeaker’s contribution should begin and end relative to the main system. Placement, level and timing are system-design decisions rather than properties guaranteed by the cabinet name. The UPM-1P manual is the appropriate technical reference; the narrower UPM-2P should not be selected as though the two models have identical coverage.
