Martin Audio SXP 118
Martin Audio SXP 118 identifies the SXP118 powered subwoofer in the SX family. The manufacturer describes a reflex-loaded design with one long-excursion 18-inch driver. Class D amplification and digital processing are built into the cabinet.
The SXP118 provides analogue audio connections and Dante digital audio networking. Its processing includes gain, equalisation, delay, muting and preset selection, with Ethernet control through Martin Audio’s VU-NET environment. Rear-panel presets provide a local setup option. These are model capabilities, rather than confirmation of a particular saved preset or firmware version on the stock offered here.

SXP118: amplification, DSP and audio input
The SXP118’s built-in amplification and processing distinguish it from a passive subwoofer that requires a separate power amplifier. The documented analogue and Dante facilities provide different signal-input approaches. Decide which path the system needs before planning connections, rather than treating the existence of both formats as a complete routing setup.
The manufacturer’s 2,000 W peak figure describes amplifier output under its stated conditions. It should not be confused with a continuous power rating or used as a stand-alone measure of the acoustic result. Low-frequency performance in a deployment also depends on placement and the rest of the sound system.
For a fleet addition, compare the exact powered SXP118 model with the equipment already in use. The presence of DSP does not establish that a particular preset, crossover or network setting is correct for a new installation. Those choices should follow the intended system design.
